The Family Counseling program provides counseling services to child and adults who are experiencing personal and family conflict due to mental health issues, child abuse and neglect, domestic violence, other marital and family discord, and/or alcohol and substance abuse problems. While many of the individuals accessing services may have insurance, reimbursement rates rarely cover the actual cost of the client’s treatment. Through the Family Counseling program we are able to serve individuals on a sliding scale fee that is much lower than the actual cost of services; we never turn people away based on inability to pay.
We have been working with a student who has struggled with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and anxiety that were contributing to dangerous thoughts that led her to think she had to hurt herself. Her OCD and anxiety were also impacting family relationships, school work and friendships. Though FCS, she is now on medications that help her manage her condition. Through counseling she learned to utilize coping skills and no longer considers self-injury. She has done an amazing job and not let this overtake her life. She is graduating in June and has been accepted into college where she will pursue a nursing degree so she can help others.
